Oakland and Macomb County Subsidized Housing

The Community Housing Network of Oakland and Macomb County has provided lists to subsidized and affordable housing in the area.

Project based subsidized housing is the most common housing subsidy and the easiest housing subsidy to get. These offer reduced rent to the tenant, typically adjusted to 30 percent of the household’s gross income. Subsidized apartments are funded through a variety of different means.

Housing subsidies are defined as being "tenant based” or "project based”. The individual or family must reapply through another program to obtain a different subsidy if eligible. While these are in high demand and often involve waiting periods to access, they are still faster than Tenant Based Subsidies, also known as Section 8 or Housing Choice Vouchers.
