Webinar - Health Care: Considering Foster Youth Perspectives About Health Care

Approximately 26,000 youth age out of foster care each year across the country, most of them eligible for the new Medicaid Expansion through the Affordable Care Act.

Do you and the adult supporters you work with think you're ready to help young people navigate the system?

The Affordable Care Act was passed in 2010 and finally youth from care will have access to parts of the law that are especially helpful to them! Join FosterClub Training and Policy Coordinator and student of the Affordable Care Act, Timothy Bell, as he walks you through what he's learned about "Obamacare", its implications for foster youth, Medicaid Expansion, as well as what young people are saying (or not saying) about the new health care law.

Timothy works for FosterClub as their Training And Policy Coordinator, supporting the efforts of youth and alumni of the foster care system in leadership development as they influence policy and practice across the country.  Towards that end, Tim coordinates a variety of efforts nationwide including the National Foster Youth and Alumni Policy Council, the Young Adult Training And Technical Assistance Network, Fosterclub’s Outstanding Young Leaders Program, FosterClub’s All Star Internship Program, as well as Washington State’s Foster Youth Advisory Board, Passion to Action.  Through these nationwide efforts, Tim has become a student of the Affordable Care Act and its implications for youth in foster care.  Coming from a history of homelessness and foster care, Tim is proud to be joining you to help support your efforts in continuing to develop communities of support for youth in and from foster care.
