Not Giving Up

On April 27th, I will be graduating college with my Bachelor's of Social Work degree. I will be walking across the stage at Eastern Michigan University clothed in a flowing gown and matching cap, shaking the Dean's hand and trying not to trip. In that moment, I will become one of the 3% of students who obtain an undergraduate degree after leaving foster care (Casey Family Programs, 2011).

Endings.

Sheila Van Wert, Saginaw Valley State University, Junior shares her thoughts on the last day.

The day has finally come!

On Friday, August 16th 2013, 19 students representing Eastern Michigan University, Michigan State University, Saginaw State University, and Western Michigan University departed Kalamazoo, bound for the Center for Fostering Success' Student Leadership Retreat! Between August 16th and August 24th, student participants will be writing blog entries here, and we invite you to share in their adventure! You can also read updates and see pictures on the Fostering Success Michigan Facebook page!
